Donna is a McLean Meditation Institute Certified Meditation & Mindfulness Instructor and the owner of Mindfulness By Design. She is also a certified trainer with the MMI Mindful Training Company.
Donna began meditating over 25 years ago to deal with anxiety and depression as a young single mother. With time and through experiencing many different meditations, her practice became a daily ritual bringing not only much-needed stress relief, but also joy and ultimately her purpose.
Donna has a background in art history with graduate work in both art history and cultural planning. Her work as a journalist allowed her to live and work internationally in Canada, France, and The Netherlands where she has taught and facilitated cross-cultural communication and negotiation. She has worked in conflict resolution, covering peace conferences and truth and reconciliation panels, as well working with the Norwegian Nansen Dialogue Centers, whose work focuses on building civic dialogue skills in areas of conflict, with special focus on The Balkans. Her work also included working with Native American communities in Arizona and the Southwest.
As director of a public art program, Donna focused on the role of the arts to build community. She has worked as a facilitator and with boards and leaders in both the arts and the corporate world. Along the way, Donna has studied Kundalini yoga and is Reiki trained. She is also a nonfiction writer.
Donna’s goal is to help her students live better, happier, calmer, and more compassionate lives. She offers one-on-one coaching in person and in small groups, as well as within the corporate environment. Her focus with corporations and boards is mindful leadership techniques to help develop compassionate and happier workplaces through team-building and retreats.
With her teaching on mindfulness and meditation, Donna strives to help individuals build their individual practices in support of their personal goals. She teaches the Simple, Easy, Every Day (SEED) Meditation method as a foundational tool of her work.
