Emilie started meditating daily in 2004 while in graduate school and because of the positive benefits in her own life began organizing workshops in Colorado and Ohio for college students and adults.
She has taught mindfulness and meditation since 2007 and became a Certified Meditation and Mindfulness Instructor (CMMI) with the McLean Meditation Institute in the Summer of 2015. She chose to become certified with Sarah because of her dedication to self-compassion, her focus on gratitude and her inclusive approach to teaching mindfulness.
As a high school teacher and a mom, Emilie's approach to teaching meditation is compassionate, heart-centered, practical and down to earth. She has taught in a wide variety of settings from hospice, to public schools, to church basements and even informal group settings in people's backyards. She even had the chance to lead a group of teenagers in a meditation under the stars in the Peruvian Andean mountains.
Emilie is a big fan of making meditation accessible and demystifying it so that it becomes as natural and commonplace as waking up to brush one's teeth.
In her students, she has seen both subtle and more pronounced shifts from learning to meditate, shifts that ultimately help them to navigate the world with greater peace, ease, and joy.
She works both in private and group settings.
