Jamie Zimmerman, MS, E-RYT 200, RYT 500, Certified Meditation Teacher
Jamie discovered the meditation limb of yoga as a teenager through her soccer coach. She loved it so much she borrowed cassette tapes from him to practice. Quickly, meditation became a habit for her, a ritual she practiced to get in “the zone” for each game. After Jamie completed her soccer career at The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) she finally found the remaining 7 limbs of yoga. Yoga became this beautiful piece of her life that made her feel the way she felt when she was dancing on the ball... free, expressive, and whole.
Since beginning her practice, Jamie has completed yoga trainings in Baltimore, Maryland under Kim Manfredi and in Rishikesh, India studying under Shiva Shankar. She received her Meditation Teacher Certification from the McLean Meditation Institute studying under Sarah McLean, author of "Soul Centered, Transform your Life in 8 Weeks with Meditation." Jamie also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science and a Master's Degree in Applied Gerontology.
Jamie is a transplant to Santa Barbara, who came here from the East Coast with a dream, an open heart, her sweet dog Rufus, and her suitcase. Since joining the Santa Barbara community in 2017, Jamie has been active in advocating for and creating opportunities for elders and individuals with disabilities. In addition, she has had an impact within the community teaching meditation and yoga to adults, children, and even families as private clients.
No matter where Jamie goes her sense of purpose remains the same; to live with a mindful awareness of her heart’s desires and the courage each day to stand fiercely in her authentic self. She recently added to this mantra “have fun doing it!” If there is one thing, she wants her students to get from her classes, it’s that. That our flaws, falls, sparkles, giggles, quirkiness are parts of our authenticity; and each vulnerable part of ourselves is worthy of love. She teaches yoga and meditation at various centers in the Santa Barbara area, including Montecito Meditation.
