Jan started doing relaxation exercises in the late 80s, and soon moved to other forms of meditation including Transcendental Meditation (TM). Gaining clarity, she left her drafting job to study at university as a mature student. She completed a Masters in New Zealand studies with her thesis focused on ethnic/racial intermarriage in New Zealand. Needing work afterwards, she found herself teaching study skills and ESOL back at the university. Heavy workloads in a highly pressured environment meant that meditation often took a back seat, until 2007 when her chiropractor noted the high level of stress in her body. She took this as a “lucky alert,” and started taking better care of herself and meditating regularly again.
This led to another move in a new direction. She discovered the McLean Meditation Institution and in 2014 trained with MMI to become a certified meditation & mindfulness teacher in the Simple, Easy, Every Day (SEED)) Meditation method.
