Jeri knows well hospitals and the stress and responsibilities of being a caretaker. Both of her children had severe health issues and her father passed away of cancer in 2004. She also knows about stress, fear, and hope. Jeri was introduced to meditation at the Mayo Clinic after breaking her neck in September of 2007. She was thrown from her horse and surgeons replaced a shattered C5 vertebrae with a cadaver bone, repaired the C6 vertebrae, plated the two and sent her home a week later in a neck brace. She had nerve damage in both arms resulting in no feeling or control of her hands.

With a bag full of anti-inflammatory, nerve, and pain medication she spent the first year in a drug-induced haze. She had recovered the use of her arms, but the pain was unmanageable without medication. In 2008, she saw a photo of herself at a birthday party and couldn’t remember it being taken. This moment gave her a new purpose -- to get off all of the medication and get her life back! Mayo Clinic had suggested meditation as a resource for her to manage the pain and she soon found Transcendental Meditation in Fairfield, Iowa.

Jeri has been meditating for over eight years and credits meditation with helping her heal, get her life back, and finding a new purpose: to share how meditation and mindfulness can help others heal. She became certified as a meditation and mindfulness teacher at the Mediation Teacher Academy and now teaches wherever she is invited, sharing her journey of healing and growth. Once an advocate for her family, she now leads others out of the darkness by teaching meditation and mindfulness--tools that made a huge impact in her recovery. Her personal lessons from recovering from trauma, pain, opioids, anxiety, and depression can help you find peace.
