Sharon Gilliam is a public education teacher for students with special needs, animal lover, nutrition and fitness enthusiast, and a McLean Meditation Institute Certified Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher.
In October 2011, Sharon participated in a fire walk to raise money for a no-kill animal shelter. It was at this fire walk that she was introduced to meditation. As a way of dealing with the stressors of everyday life and her anxiety and depression, she began attending weekly group meditations. After attending group sessions for 2 months, she developed her personal meditation practice at home. Slowly she started to feel happier and more grounded and realized that she might be able to replace her “needed” daily medication with meditation.
Today she no longer takes medication for depression and anxiety and knows meditation has been the key factor in changing the structure of her brain. In 2012 she traveled to India to learn Bhakti yoga and other forms of meditation. In 2014 she participated in silent meditation retreats. After the loss of her mother in 2016, she decided to share with others the many gifts meditation had given her.
Sharon became certified as a meditation and mindfulness teacher and teaches Simple, Easy, Every Day (SEED) Meditation. She received her certification through the Meditation Teacher Academy at the McLean Meditation Institute in Sedona, Arizona. She offers meditation training for groups or individuals who desire to learn a simple way to incorporate meditation into daily life. She is the owner of Sat Nam Meditation. She currently teaches “Mindfulness” classes to her special education students. She offers small group meditation classes in her home. Sharon wants to give support to and invites all who wish to live a more peaceful mindfully aware life to enter their personal journey with her.
